A Sean O’Casey Tribute

A Sean O'Casey tribute mural with Mac Signs and Vents Dublin, supported by Dublin City Council and All City Records.

100 Seville Place was the headquarters of the St Laurence O’Tooles Club where the Gaelic league was founded in 1901, and later supported hurling and football teams too. Sean O’Casey would become heavily involved and made a valuable contribution to its activities - culturally, socially and politically.

Within the next 2 decades the St Laurence O’Tooles Pipers Band and the Saint Laurence O’Tooles Dramatic Society were founded here. Many of its members were at the heart of the revolutionary activity of this era. 73 members of the club took part in the Easter Rising.

In addition to its athletic and cultural activities, it was also headquarters of the republican military. Many of the club members were involved at this time, and Michael Collins and the gang met here regularly.
